Opportunity To Serve. ..
Showers of blessings
Reverend N Murambadoro
Proverbs 14:31 "He who oppresses the poor reproaches, mocks, and insults his Maker, but he who is kind, generous and merciful to the needy honors Him."
This Scripture has two things: warning - we need to avoid insulting GOD and opportunity to Honour GOD.
I was just thinking of Matthew 7:22-23 "Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name? And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands]."
Sometimes we insult GOD unintentionally and, out of ignorance.
This Proverbs is helping us to desist from some ungodly habits as Christians. Foe example: Many people have helpers in their homes, but they treat their servants badly.
It's like they are less human but Scripture is rebuking us from acting in an ungodly manner to our servants because it's an insult to GOD.
It is clear from Scripture that it's impossible to be a 'true' Christian and mistreat the poor. Pure religion before the all-seeing eyes of GOD is to take care of the poor James 1:27.
As the proverb declares plainly, true honor of GOD involves mercy toward the poor. The poor are generally defenseless and helpless. If you take advantage of them in this weak condition, you insult GOD their CREATOR. He will avenge all such offences Deut 10:17-18.
Remember if you are rich, it is not because of your ability, effort, or intelligence.
Time and chance, by the providence of GOD, has made you what you are today Eccl 9:11. GOD gave you what you have, and it is a sin to boast as if you did not receive it as a gift I Cor 4:7.
Honour GOD by being generous and kind to the poor. The LORD blesses who does HIS Will. I pray that the HOLY SPIRIT enables you to do the right thing. Amen
Blessings and Shalom
