There is always a multitude of people doing otherwise in every strata of human life. There are multitude of people who do things the same way as others and end up the same way as others. Whereas, there are also some set of people who stand out from the crowd and become great and distinct. In the kingdom of God, and especially today, many people are in Christ simply because of what they can take advantage of. Apostle Paul talked about them, that they are lovers of self rather lovers of God, and their God is their belly.
*So, my people come pretending to be sincere and sit before you. They listen to your words, but they have no intention of doing what you say. Their mouths are full of lustful words, and their hearts seek only after money. Ezekiel 33:31
In the scripture above God was speaking to prophet Ezekiel- God hates it when a man doesn’t love Him, but only come to Him simply because of what he can get from Him. God’s intention is to make us sons who loves the Father, and not seekers and gold diggers who suck from the Father. However, the disposition of many to God today is that of gold diggers. They just want God simply because of the benefits and advantages embedded in salvation. But this should not be so, God wants us to love Him unconditionally, just as He also loves us unconditionally.
Don’t join the multitude in seeking God for gain, seek God to love Him. when you seek Him because you love Him, He will give you a lot of gains. But His heart is not always pleased with those who only come to suck His benefits. Jesus expressed displeasure at some people who struggled to find Him- He told them that they only seek Him because of bread, and it’s not supposed to be. We shouldn’t seek God because of bread, but because we love Him. Those multitude who desires to use God for their personal gain will most likely fall into snares, as the word of the Lord says that those that love riches falls into snares.
