Methodist Church In Zimbabwe Daily Devotion: Deuteronomy 7:2-4

 DAILY DEVOTION MCZ MISSION DEPARTMENT

DEUTRONOMY 7:2-4

And when the LORD your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction. You shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them.  You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons,  for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods. Then the anger of the LORD would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.

Preserve your blessings

The above text was an instruction given to the Israelites before they entered the promised land. The issue or point in question was not on whether they would enter, but upon entering Canaan, a prescribed lifestyle needed to be followed. Alas when they got to the promised  land ,they went ahead to marry foreigners who had their own gods and God was grieved, removed his sovereign presence and let them into captivity.

It is true and a fact that God answers prayer. Many requests that people make today are actually those things which God answered at some point but the packages got lost due to ungodly lifestyles. Hence many people today are praying for a another touch ,because the provision from the first touch slipped away.

Brethren and sisters, Jesus would say go and sin not again. We need to preserve what we have received from God, through living a life worthy to be called Christians. In the same way food is preserved, our answers from God ,our packages of blessings also need preservation.

Prayer Point

Oh Lord my God, help me to preserve the blessings in my life through walking with you and being obedient. Enable me Lord in the name of Jesus Christ ,Amen.
