Churches can now meet for worship without the vaccination condition, The
Church News has heard.
This follows a meeting between the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHOCD), the Zimbabwe Interdenominational Council of Churches (ZIICC) and President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House Thursday.
ZCC General Secretary who is also the secretariat of the ZHOCD, Rev Dr. Mtata said churches are now allowed to have meetings of not more than hundred people.
"Following the ZHOCD and ZIICC courtesy call with the HE, President Mnangagwa at the state House today, the 9th of September 2021, we can clarify that:
Churches, like other gatherings, are allowed to have meetings of not more than 100 people.
The gatherings must follow WHO protocols of
~Face masking
~Social distancing
~Hand sanitization
People are still being encouraged to get vaccinated.
Beyond this, any further adjustments will be announced by the normal government channels." Said Rev Mtata.
In a statement the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ) said congregates can now gather without the vaccination condition.
The no - vaccination, no - church policy announced early August was met with resistance from several sections of the Church.
