*THINK ALOUD*
With the Cde
I hear Zambia's new President Hichilema Hakainde is an ardent Adventist, meaning he is a strong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
But, I also gather that Adventists by nature are world denying.
They are discouraged from joining political parties and participating in ‘worldly endeavours’.
For a long time most Pentecostal Churches had no strong theological basis for opposing political leaders.
Many have interpreted Romans 13 literally and would not point a finger at oppressive regimes.
Most opposed socialism and liberation theologies which were embraced easily by the Catholics and South African black theologians.
So did HH rise with his Church's blessing or not?
Just yesterday there was a question on why the Church has let mbavha, mhondi nemhombwe to lead the political arena.
It all points to good people in the Church not wanting to participate yet cry foul when the economy is plundered and when violence rears its ugly head.
I think its high time churches identify good people and groom them for political leadership.
AND have we changed our name from Dzimba-dzemabwe to Pfumvudza?
Last night social media was abuzz with Ethiopia - 1- 0 Pfumvudza hahahaha kuseka nhamo serugare chokwadi.
As someone alluded yesterday, for one to be stress free 'don't support local soccer.'
But we are patriots aren't we? We raise our flag high proudly supporting our warriors and here we are.
"The World Cup qualifiers are not important. The World Cup is not important. Don't worry about the result today. We are only using these World Cup qualifiers to prepare for the AFCON finals next year. I am not worried " Loga.
So comrades and friends, let not your hearts be troubled wooo our coach is not worried wooo.
AND did you know that we are making history as a country.
Never in the history of the Church, were the children not allowed in Church.
Our children go to school every morning jam - packed in the Zupco kombis, mixing with unvaccinated adults, they are in the winding queues together with the un-tested chain smokers and sneezing adults whose flue seems not to end.
Most schools require that children be shaved and they use public barbing facilities with no sterilizers, sharing one towel, one machine, one apron and yet they can't be in Church where physical distancing is practiced and WHO guidelines are observed religiously. Food for thought.
Jesus himself said in Mathew 18 vs 1 to 6:
_At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."_
Until next week, ane nzeve dzokunzwa ngaanzwe.
