Galatians 5:24-25: "And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives."
Our natural human nature has its passions and appetites and desires. That's why it is difficult for us on our own to overcome desires of the flesh. So what must we do then? Should we follow the passions of the flesh? No!!! Paul is revealing the secret to overcome this. Firstly you need to belong to CHRIST and not just a mere member of a Church. Being a Church goer does not mean belonging to CHRIST. We should be clear about our relationship with CHRIST.
Secondly, live by the HOLY SPIRIT, following HIS leading in every part of our lives. When you belong to CHRIST, the HOLY SPIRIT comes in to dwell in you. The HOLY SPIRIT will direct your path, all you need is to be sensitive to HIM guiding you and have an ear that hears when HE speaks. By so doing, we will overcome the desires and passions of the flesh. Amen.
