Members of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches yesterday plauded Rev Dr. Kenneth Mtata as a turn around strategist, humble servant of God and leader par excellence.

Speaking at a function to celebrate Rev Mtata's 5 year milestone at the helm of ZCC, Mrs. V. Nyemba, chairperson of the ZCC's advisory board said Rev Mtata has transformed an organisation he found sinking in debt five years ago.

"He has resolved the debt - crisis and introduced a social inclusion policy, gender policy among other policies aimed at benchmarking ZCC to remain at the top of corporate governance in the country. Now under him ZCC is renovating and expanding" Mrs. Nyemba said.

Bishop Erick Ruwona of the Anglican Diocese of Manicaland who is also ZCC's vice president said it was a good decision to employ Rev Mtata.

"When we employed him 5 years ago staff had gone for a long time without salaries and some staff members suggested that Kentucky Hotel be sold so they could get their money and go.

"But being a leader with a vision Rev Mtata has achieved all set targets and has indeed transformed this organisation." said Bishop Ruwona.

Team leader of Council programs, Dr. Tinashe Gumbo said Rev Mtata is a man of respect who respects everyone.

"He respects membership, he respects supervisors, he respects members of staff and he doesn't want to get glory alone."

"He has made ZCC to impact the public space. He influences processes and enables everyone to excel.

"He has high standards and challenges the status quo." Dr. Gumbo said.

ZCC President Bishop Khanye praised God for the provision of Rev Mtata at a time like this.

Women and youth leaders also spoke at length of how they have managed to engage in public processes under Rev Mtata's direction.

To date ZCC has a staff compliment of 71 and has regional and  provincial offices around the country.
