✝️Those who have accepted Christ are no longer in bondage to things of the world such unclean thoughts, sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry but have crucified these in Christ.
Christians have been raised with Christ to new life and fitted for a higher world, which is the eavenly where their desires and conduct are like that of Christ.
In Christ they have life directly to God as they live not to please themselves but God in
Christ.
Their true characters will be fully shown on the day when Christ’s glory is revealed in their lives.
Since believers have been redeemed from worldly things in Christ and completely changed in their living standards, they live relative to truth, compassion, meekness, long-suffering, forgiveness and love for others.
In Christ, they are called to unity and holiness which shows that the doctrine of Christ truly and richly and dwells in them.
To show this, they should be able to teach and admonish each other as they do everything in the name of Christ.
So the Apostle admonishes wives to submit to their husbands, husbands to love their wives, as children should obey their parents.
Likewise, parents should not be hard and harsh over their children but should raise them in the Lord, servants should be honest and employers should give a good wage to their workers, non should treat each other harshly or badly, for God is not a respecter of persons.
1️⃣Colossians 3:1-16: In Christ, believers have a new life, the old nature is crucified.
⏹️Not only do believers know that through Christ’s death they have died to sin but they must also show it to be true in their daily lives by putting away the old selfish habits that God hate such as sexual immorality, lust, idolatry, greedy and selfishness and uncontrolled desires.
The Apostle says, "For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man sees, why does he yet hope for?" (Romans 8:24).
⏭️Believers should put on the new man in Christ and make every effort to control their tongues and be self-disciplined.
The Apostle says, "And that you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness"
(Ephesians 4:24).
⏭️ In Christ, the old nature should be crucified and conquered as they obtain forgiveness and eternal life as a free gift by faith. In Christ they should seek to achieve holiness which is the permeating of their characters to eternal life by patiently working to mortify their sinful natures.
The Apostle says, "Know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God"(1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
⏹️Every Christian should be subjected to change, spiritual renewal which is progressive towards holiness as they are daily created anew in Christ Jesus, which is sanctification.
The Apostle says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God"(Romans 12:2).
⏭️All things done in the Christian life should be done in love for God and fellow man with thankfulness as we show that the doctrine of Christ dwells in us.
The Apostle says, "Giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 5:20).
2️⃣Colossians 3:17-25: Believers should live an honest life both at home and in society.
⏹️Believers should live in harmony both at home and in society.
Harmony in the home depends on the husbands loving their wives and wives showing their loyal submissions to their husbands. Submission and reverence should always be rendered to higher powers.
The Apostle says, "For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression"(1 Timothy 2:13-14).
⏭️ Children should obey their parents as parents too should not mistreat their children or be harsh or unreasonable to them. The wiseman says,
"There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother. The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat"( Proverbs 30:11, 17).
⏭️In society, workers should be honest and hard working as if they are doing it for Christ so as to produce quality work and results.
The Apostle says, *"And now, brothers, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified"(Acts 20:32).
⏭️Masters, employers and governments should not treat their slaves, workers and employees and citizens without respect.
On their part, they must reward their slaves, workers, employees and citizens fairly and with respect knowing that they too have a master in God who will rewards each person according to what they have done on earth in treating others.
The wiseman says, "The wicked works a deceitful work: but to him that sows righteousness shall be a sure reward"(Proverbs 11:18).
*🅰️Appeal*
All things should be done in the fear of God.
Husbands should love their wives in the fear of God as Christ loved the church.
Wives should submit to their husbands in the fear of God as the church submits to Christ her husband.
Children should obey their parents as believers obey the commandments of God, servants should work honestly in the fear of God as all people should know their is a God in heaven who will faithfully reward mankind according to the works they have done in the flesh. The Psalmist says, "Like as a father pities his children, so the LORD pities them that fear him"(Psalm.103:13). Amen!!!
