*WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE?*

_Doing the opposite._

*_"Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgement against it because I have seen how wicked its people are." But Jonah went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord._* (Jonah 12-3)

To be selected  among all the people to hear from God directly is something that one needs to take with both pride and humility. It is a great favour. Samuel would respond, *_"Speak, your servant is listening"_*(1 Samuel 3:10b) and Saul answered *_"Who are you Lord?"_*? (Acts 9:5) It is an honour to have the Lord speaking directly to an individual.

Jonah had the privilege of being called and sent by God on a mission. The message needed Jonah to do things in stages. He had to get up as the first action, and he was given the location to go to; the city of Nineveh. He was also given a message to carry with him and announce the Lord's imminent judgement against the City. But Jonah decided to take a completely opposite direction.

There are people who are called and tasked by God and instead they do the opposite. Are you not one of them? Are you not on the run like Jonah? The Jonah community has people that often snub the honour that God gives them and go their own way. When God really wants you, you have nowhere to escape. What does the Psalmist say; _"I can never escape from your spirit! I can never get away from your presence!"_ *(Psalm 139:7)* No one can successfully run away and hide from God. If you were attempting to escape from his calling, learn from Jonah and many others that the long arm of the Master and his sharp eye will locate you.

Count it as Grace if you are called and given a task by God. *Amen.*
