Light On Tuesday

WHAT IS YOUR REQUEST?

_Guide me oh thou great Jehovah!_

_"If God will be with me and protect me on this journey and give me food and clothing, and if he will bring me back safely to my father, then I will make the Lord my God. This memorial pillar will become a place for worshiping God, and I will give God a tenth if everything he gives me."_ (Genesis 28:20-22)

Jacob was on a journey to Paddan-aram when he said this prayer. It was in the presence of God that he made a request that would shape his future. He realised that he needed God's intervention as he moved into the unknown.

Life often moves us into uncharted waters. It is when we face the unknown future that we need to trust God more than anyone else.

God knows our future since he has planned it before for us. _"For I know the plans I have for you......(Jeremiah 29:11)_

In his request Jacob wanted God to not only protect him on the way but also provide for his basic needs.

In addition to this he wanted to be blessed and led back a better person.

To seal his request Jacob pledged to worship God on the same place and also give a tenth of all that God would give him.

We learn from Jacob that  while we expect to receive from God we should be eager to do something in gratitude for blessings.

We need to trust God for his providence and also  thank him for his protection and guidance. Let your request be, _"Guide me oh thou great Jehovah."_ Amen.

  1. Thank you major powerful message indeed. Sometimes we venture into the unknown on our own and when things goes bad we tend to blame God for our own errors.
May God guide and lead me to the unknown.
