One Body, One Spirit

Ephesians 4:4-6 "There is one body and one Spirit—just as there is also one hope that belongs to the calling you received There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of us all, Who is above all Sovereign over all, pervading all and living in us all."

In this text, Paul is calling for unity, it is important to note that he is not speaking of unity at any price in which the fundamental truths of the gospel are thrown away or are not considered. If we are to preserve the unity of the SPIRIT in the Bond of Peace we need to know and hold to the truths which unite us as a Body. Then instead of focusing on the DIFFERENCES like "majoring on the minors" so to speak, we can concentrate on the positive doctrinal truths which form the foundation of Christian unity. 

Now in vs 4-6 Paul proceeds to list seven elements that unite believers in the One Body of CHRIST. When we are tempted to break unity, we need to remember these unifying truths - One Body, one SPIRIT, one Hope, one LORD, one Faith, one Baptism, and one GOD. If there were two of each element, then it would be justifiable for divisions. My prayer is that: May there be unity in Church. May there be unity in the family. May there be unity in the everywhere. Amen.
