The Pastor's Kitchen: Mince Pie

 *Ingredients* 


500g beef mince

1 tsp plain flour 

1 tsp beef stock cube crushed

1bsp tomato paste 

1 tsp tomato sauce 

1  tbsp Worcestershire sauce 

1 /2 tsp mixed herbs 

3 tbsp grated cheese 

2/3 cup water 

1 egg (for egg wash, mixed together with 2 tablespoons of water)


Heat the oil in a large frying add the beef mince and cook until well browned, stirring break up any large lumps.


Stir in the flour and cook for approximately 30 seconds, gradually add the beef stock and water and bring to the boil. 


Add the tomato paste and tomato sauce,  Worcestershire sauce, mixed herbs


Lower the heat and simmer gently 5 minutes, then remove from the heat and allow to cool


Roll pastry out then line bottom of pie dish.


Scoop in the mince.  Roll out remaining pastry dough and put on top of mince. 


Cut off overhanging edges and cut holes in the centre for the steam to be let out.


Whisk egg in bowl then use pastry brush then brush over the pastry with egg wash. 


Bake at 180 degrees for 25-30 mins.
