WHAT IS YOUR REQUEST?

_Wisdom_

_That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, "What do you want?_ _Ask, and I will give it to you!"_

_"Give me an understanding mind so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong."_

(1 Kings 3:5,9)  

Solomon was very fortunate to be given such a rare opportunity when he had just assumed office as the new King of Israel. 

Many new leaders go places and some spend fortunes trying to secure their positions. 

Solomon was blessed to have God himself asking him to make his request. "Ask and I will give it to you." 

That was an open cheque that needed real wisdom before calculating what to fill on it. Incidentally Solomon took his time and asked for an understanding mind; that was wisdom. I take it that Solomon was already seasoned, and yet he knew that only wisdom from God would make him a good leader.

Solomon requested that he be sobber enough to differentiate between right and wrong. It was not long before he had to judge right from wrong. Had he not made a wise request earlier he would have failed his very first task. But thank God he was more than ready when duty called and challenged his judgement. 

How often have you been given such an opportunity? What have you requested? Fortune knocks but once on a person's door. Make sure you grab it and make the right request. You need not to regret a missed opportunity.
