Light On Sunday

DO NOT FORGET THE LORD

_He is God; Understand that._

"Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands."_(Deuteronomy 7:9)

The loving God showcased  in this verse is quickly revealed also as a just God in the preceding verse; _"But he does not hesitate to punish and destroy those who reject him._ (vs 10) Forgetting the Lord is as bad as rejecting him, and so both will not go unpunished.

We are being reminded therefore,  not to forget but understand and remember that this Lord is indeed God. Simply understanding him is not enough. We must add acceptance and acknowledgement  that he is both all powerful and ever loving.

_How then do we acknowledge this our God?_ We acknowledge him through obedience to his commands, decrees and regulations. We must worship him wholeheartedly and never to turn against him. God keeps his covenant for generations. Do not forget this God.
