Light On Thursday: Do Not Forget The Lord

 Light On Thursday

with Major Isaiah Motsi

DO NOT FORGET THE LORD

_Yet how quickly they (the Israelites) forgot what he had done! They wouldn't wait for his counsel! They forgot God, their saviour, who had done such great things in Egypt._ (Psalm 106:13,21)

The children of Israel were the most privileged nation on earth, for they were hand picked by God to be his people. (Exodus 6:7)

They became a people he chose to lead all the way to freedom. From slavery he would set them free, facing the red sea with Pharaoh in hot pursuit, God divided the sea.

When they were thirsty and hungry in the wilderness God provided all they needed. In times of war, God would defend them and fight on their side.

Despite all that providence and guidance, the Israelites would quickly and easily forget. They would still complain to God, and even find a different god or make an idol of a god to worship.

We have such people today. People who were rescued from some Pharaoh-like heartless grip, or picked from the dust, yet they so easily forget where they came from. They forget whose hand rescued them from danger and brought them to safety.

Some were raised from sick beds where life was least expected. Others had sunk neck-deep in the mire but, in the abundance of his love,

God redeemed them.  Brothers and sisters, forgetting your Egypt - like experience is a grave mistake.

Look back and see what the Lord has done for you and be grateful. For it is because of the Lord's love  that you are alive today. Amen.
