Light On Wednesday

with Major Isaiah Motsi

(Gaborone, Botswana)

_You will sing a new song_

_I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,_

_He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God._ (Psalm 40:1a,3a)

A new song in this context represents the opening of a new chapter in one's life; a completely new story. Such a moment cannot easily be kept secret, hence the singing of, not just a song but, a new song.

The waiting period is not given here but the guiding factor is the word _patiently._

It may have taken days, weeks, months or even years before God's answer came. For Abraham it took a hundred years to realise God's promise. David, the writer, would wait for as long as it took to get the Lord's response.

Dear friend, if you set your mind on something, ask God for it through prayer and, you have be patient and wait. When the time is ripe, a new horizon will appear in your life and on that day God will put a new song in your heart to sing;  a song of praise, _Hallelujah!_

Amen
