Zimbabwe Education Fund (ZIMEFU) Trust is targeting to train 2000 girls and women in making reusable sanitary wear (pads) in 2022, the Church News has learnt.
In a telephone interview yesterday, ZIMEFU founder Pastor Gibson Mwinde said it is his organisation's purpose to reach out to as many less - privileged girls and women in remotest parts of Lupane and Binga districts.
ZIMEFU is appealing for donations in either cash or kind from well- wishers across the globe.
"The major objectives of this initiative is to reduce school drop outs rate in rural areas, improve pass rate in schools, reduce absenteeism in schools, mitigate Gender - Based Violence, mitigate cervical cancer due to use of dirty materials such as newspapers and dirty cloths, empower girls and women for sustainability, to mitigate the spread of HIV/ AIDS and sanitary wear are part of the clinical services packages." Mwinde said.
The most targeted requirements include fleece material x 600m,
waterproof material x 400m, scissors x 100, needles x 2000 and threads x 50.
ZIMEFU is a not for profit organization operating in Matebeleland North.
The organization's vision is to empower girls and women through the provision and training them in making reusable pads (sanitary wear).
