Bible Text : Psalms 51:4
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.
This is a verse by King David after Prophet Nathan visited him to tell him about his sin of bedding Uriah’s wife. King David accepted and acknowledged his sin then confessed.John clearly says:-If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
In John 1:9 (NIV)David was a King, a very powerful King who had everything at his disposal.
He could call on any woman in his nation and have her without any resistance at all but chose to abuse that power and take Uriah’s wife. How have you been tempted to use your position in church to sin?
What are you doing to correct this? One thing we need to know is that God does not expose our sin to shame us, but to show us that we need a saviour. If your sin has been exposed, be ready to confess. Some Christians are using their church positions to abuse congregants sexually.
God anointed you to lead, and lead you must. How well do you accept those who expose your sin? One thing I like about David is, he accepted and immediately went into a confession mode. He did not worry more about Prophet Nathan who exposed him. What do Christians of today do?
They immediately go into defensive mode quoting and misquoting the word. “The bible says no one is perfect” Ndiri munhu wenyama….kune wesimbi here? Lets take cue from David and confess.
Life is not about being better than someone else. It's about being better than you used to be, discovering who you truly are and fulfilling God's purpose for your life. Always focus on being better today than you were yesterday.
You may be the only person left who believes in you, and it's enough. How do you intend to use your church position differently? As we start on a new day, lets all remember that, “Heaven is real and hell is still hot”
