Light On Saturday

with Major Isaiah Motsi

(Gaborone, Botswana)

AM I GOD?

_When Rachel saw that she wasn't having children for Jacob, she became jealous of her sister. She pleaded with Jacob, "Give me children, or I will die!"_

_Then Jacob became furious with Rachel. "Am I God?" he asked. "He is the one who has kept you from having children."_ (Genesis 30:1-2)

One would expect a lot of drama in Jacob's family. Good things were happening to one wife while completely the opposite was happening to the other and Jacob witnessed both.

Some couples would easily blame one another but, this was one with a  difference.

Jacob had children with Leah and Rachel also wanted children. The family head, Jacob, understood that God is the giver of children.

That is why Jacob asked Leah, even though he was getting his voice on the high, "Am I God?" Jacob never blamed Rachel for having no children, in fact, he loved her even more than Leah.

When we get into moments like these we need to understand and accept that only God has the answer.

As much as we may want things our own way, only God has the final word.

Jacob did not seek answers anywhere else but was very clear that he was not God. He  would wait for God's time.

Many people have often failed the _wait upon God_ test and opted  for short cuts to solutions for their problems. Some are even abused in those short cuts.

While some have sought miracles from man,  others have found refuge in self-pity.

Rachel would cry because of her problem  and even considered death as an escape route.

She was not aware that every passing day drew her nearer to her miracle than before.

God has plans for each and every one of us. It is only patience that will see us receive our miracle (Jeremiah 29:11)

Choose patience  and you will certainly get to your destination.

Amen
