Friday showers of blessings come from Colossians 2:21-23 “Don’t handle, nor taste, nor touch” (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, humility, and severity to the body; but aren’t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh."
In conclusion of chapter 2 Paul teaches against false teachers by noting how deceptive their approach is. At face value, what seems true turns out to be false, because it is based on human rules and efforts. False teachers taught that, following restrictive religious rules makes a person look holy to others. This systems demanded and compelled Christians high levels of dedication and work. Religious people appear very moral and are quite dedicated and yet, these are merely human rules based on principles which don't come from CHRIST HIMSELF. These teachings were self-made and they wre not actually anything from GOD.
If we look around, do we still see this kind of religiosity? I think the influence of such teachings still exists. Our prayer is that the HOLY SPIRIT liberates us from being religious to becoming children of GOD. Relationship with GOD matters most than human rules and regulations. Amen.
Blessings and Shalom
