Aaron Ipisani
Babylon, the city on the Euphrates, whose Hanging Gardens were one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was the city that had taken God's Old Testament people captive.
So God uses it as the name of the world power that would take most of the earth's inhabitants captive. John names the "Euphrates," unddr both the sixth trumpet and the sixth bowl, as the land from which the enemiez of God will come.
Rev. 18
Chapter 18 describes the destruction of the city of Babylon, which is the seat of Antichrist's political and economic power (also referred to as Babylon the Great). In chapter 17 John described ghe destruction of the one-world, idolatrous religious system. John begins chapter 18 with "after this," meaning after the religious Babylon is destroyed.
He saw a vision of the fall of the city of Babylon the Great. The city which represents the political and economic systems of the world, had "become a home for demons" (v. 2). The kings of the earth had committed (spiritual) adultery with her and the merchants grew rich from her excessive luxuries (v. 3). For the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10).
