James 4:6
[6]But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
God hates pride
From Genesis to Revelations we discover that God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.He resists the arrogant but gives grace to those that are lowly of heart.
James reminds us that God gives us grace and even greater grace, but also urges us not to abuse his mercies.We are to exhibit genuine mercy and deep humility of the heart.
Pride alienates us from God, it is self devotion , self justification and self glorifying in contempt of God.Thus sinful pride makes one refuse to recognise God's sovereign role in everything.All that we have , we received it from God.Therefore we should not act as if we achieved everything on our own.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for the great grace.Help me that I heed your serious warnings against prideful boastings, I come to you with a broken contrite heart in Jesus' name, Amen.
