Revisit Relationship With Christ

 Romans 6

16. 'Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.'

God's free will is frequently misinterpreted here as the world over people ask questions about why anybody should rebuke them whenever some wrong is done. I am tempted to say by God's free will man decided long ago to set up a parallel human judgement architecture as seen in the judicial systems. If God's Judgement were like what we see in man made judicial system, most repentants would still face punishment given the flawed nature in which cases are tried and concluded. Take what I am saying this way; say you accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour (in this case your lawyer), He will never use human reasoning to defend a sinful person, but when man commits a crime they usually hire what is termed highly regarded experts at law to defend them even if their wrong was premeditated. This is how mankind abuses God's free will gift! Because someone willfully chooses to disobey human crafted laws with the hope of being defended at the court, s/he take it that that is how God operates as well. God is not man that He will decide to bend His own rules to accommodate willful sinners, it's only those who believe that Jesus Christ is Lord who are declared righteous with God for theirs is a willful decision to become slaves by way of their sustained obedience to God. I am sure this is a matter which may seem difficult to understand! To help you understand the import of today's scripture message, you have to revisit why fasting is important. When you fast, you are giving up certain bodily senses so that you appear as if they dead in you. This is how you train yourself to refrain from evil things as in each prayer point you put forward you ask to have those evil things exterminated from your daily vocabulary! You wouldn't want to imagine about such things happening in your life, and that way you become a slave to right doing which leads to eternal life. Unless we meditate righteousness this way, carnality will continue to hold us slaves to sin. So what is the main message for you and me today? Don't abuse God's free will by flipflopping between sinning and being righteous before God. It's only those who sustain righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ, those who become slaves to serving Him, who will be qualified to enjoy eternal life. Let us continuously and conscientiously revisit our relationship with Jesus Christ for us to be counted as righteous with God. Whatever situation Jesus Christ experienced serves as our barometer to follow Him and this is a pathway to victory over sin. Aaron Ndaa welcomes any views you may have as this devotional has been written with no reference to any other source except the Bible scripture quoted herein. Good morning believer in Christ Jesus?
