Wednesday showers of blessings come from 1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 "But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief. You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness, so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober."
The Day of the LORD is a period of GOD'S Wrath and Judgment on the earth. This period will take non-Christians by surprise. Paul acknowledges that the Thessalonians Christians are children of light. Because of that, he appeals to them to stay alert, wise and self-disciplined. He further urges them not to sleep, appealing to them not to be unwise and careless. What Paul calls for Thessalonians Believers still applies to us today. We need to be alert, wise, and self-disciplined and watch for the LORD'S return to take us to Heaven. We can note a similar appeal to other Christians like Ephesians 5:15–16: Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
As believers we must be alert, wise, watching how we walk in this world. Amen
