Learn the language of your 'spiritual colonizer' if you want to be an overcomer.
Matthew 4
4. But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, <br> ‘People do not live by bread alone, <br> but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
There are many reasons why so many people lose cases against their enemies.
It is common knowledge that your enemy can throw words into your mouth when s/he realizes weaknesses in your speech. When words are put into your mouth, the effect is that you are more likely to take what your enemy is saying as truth.
Winning an argument usually requires candid thinking. You don't just utter words for the sake of wanting to be noted as a pompous speaker! This warfare also happens in the spiritual realm when satan slanders you before God.
In this verse, Jesus is teaching us to know how to engage satan when he puts words into your mouth. Both mouth and the brain (linkage with the soul) must work in mutual agreement with each other.
This is how Esau lost his birthright to Jacob when the pangs of hunger told him if he didn't 'beg' the sumptuous soup prepared by Jacob he would suddenly collapse dead! I think by now you have been made to reflect on numerous occasions when you gave in to temptations.
I can also confess that I used to do the same before my spiritual induction in understanding the Word of God. For those who have flirted with married women or men, the slanderer uses catchy words such as, '..If you do not indulge in a sexual relationship with that (usually a name is given), you will never know what joy is!'.
The attitude of promiscuity grows strongly in someone's mind, until the whole bodily senses dance to the same tune. And the Holy Sprit is speaking to me about how those who steal from others are fleeced of their sanity.
The devil will say, 'If you don't get this right now, you would have missed a great opportunity!'. The language of the deceiver is usually spiced with surprise moments in their presentation.
Knowing that Jesus was hungry during His fasting period the slanderer proferred what appeared to be the best solution. Fortunately, Jesus, filled with the Holy Sprit who understands the shenanigans of the devil, turned the language against satan.
If something is said to be against God's Word, you do not have to do it just because someone told to do it. This is how the devil 'spiritually colonize' those who are weak in their faith.
So my beloved believer in Christ Jesus, learn and understand the language of your colonizer. When plans to destroy you are being made, you will be filled with enlightenment on how to fight back.
It's not a disadvantage to be colonized, this is a good way of acquiring spiritual skills and knowledge to colonize your colonizer.
Let everyone in your household be taught the colonizer's language. This is also a sure way of sustaining one's righteousness before God.
Since satan rebelled against God before he was cast on to the earth, he understands very well what God doesn't want His followers to do. So the language satan uses is that which questions authenticity of whether God said it or not, (remember the story of how Eve gave in to luring speech of the serpent!). My main sermon to you today is just to encourage you to learn, master and practice (meditate) how to decipher the slanderer's cunning methods which cause you to fall into sin. Instead, it is you who is supposed to put words into satan's mouth by referring to scriptures. The truth must constantly set you free as you live up to God's faithfulness and righteousness. May you find peace, hope and love by doing the will of God, and not submit to the slanderous tactics of satan.
