1 Peter 3:3-4
[3]Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel
[4]rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
Beauty of the heart
We may wear apparel that is symbolic on the outside and look presentable to people we meet and to each other. This is well and good, but our God is more interested in the state of our hearts. Are we clothed in righteousness? Have our hearts been cleansed with the blood of Jesus? Are we truly sons and daughters of God who live according to His will?
The Lord wants our hearts to be pure and our actions reflective of His gentle and quiet spirit.
A quiet spirit connects to God while a rebellious spirit goes against Him. Let us therefore abide under the banner of Christ as children of the most high God who are led by His spirit.
Prayer
Oh Lord heal my heart so that I may be purified by your blood and live according to your direction and will, Amen.
