Joshua 9:15-16
_[15]So Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them to let them live; and the rulers of the congregation swore to them._
_[16]And it happened at the end of three days, after they had made a covenant with them, that they heard that they were their neighbors who dwelt near them._
*Seek counsel from God*
The Gibeonites deceived the Israelites to keep them from bringing justice upon them according to the word of the Lord. The Israelites made a covenant with them without going back to God for advice. We must be aware that the devil will seek to deceive us in so many ways, in order to form evil covenants with us. Once these covenants are formed, we will find ourselves struggling with their effects and unable to break free from their consequences.
It is wisdom to seek out a matter and to take it to God who sees and knows all things, even the hidden things. He will expose the evil plans the devil has planned against us. We will be saved from committing to covenants that seek to defile us and to separate us from our God. In everything we do, we must seek the Lord's input for He is able to deal with all things, hidden or seemingly plain.
*Prayer*
I seek your counsel Oh Lord for you know the way I should go. You are the way, the truth and the life. Amen
