Zimbabwe Council of Churches attended the Zimbabwe Genome Editing Communication and Advocacy Strategy workshop in Harare.
ZCC was represented by the General Secretary Reverend Wilfred Dimingo and the Director of Humanitarian Services and Diakonia Ms Maria Tendai Dendere.
The workshop was in line with Zimbabwe aiming to become an upper middle-income economy by harnessing Science, Technology and Innovation.
During the workshop Rev Dimingo alluded that “As a church our interest and theological mandate are on the improved livelihoods of the people of Zimbabwe and we believe this initiative by scientists will help in improving food security.”
Currently the ZCC in partnership with Felm ,United Church of Canada and CFGB are complimenting the government’s efforts to alleviate food shortages through the implementation of food aid projects to food insecure provinces such as Masvingo and Matabeleland. The workshop ended on Friday with a second draft of the Genome Editing Communication Strategy.
