Topic: THE WICKED ALTARS OF YOUR FATHER'S HOUSE

Text: Judges 6:12–13, 25–26.

Let me offer one or two explanations before the prayers start. There is trouble in the land, just as there will always be trouble when you put God last and somethi

ng else first.

In our scripture, there was trouble in Israel. The enemy was punishing them harshly and troubling them. They had to hide their food because if the enemy discovered that they were making food, they would come and destroy it.

Brother Gideon was trying to make food, hiding what he was doing. Then an angel came to him and saluted him. The salute tells us what God had written down in His book concerning Gideon.

Judges 6:12 (KJV) "And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour."

Judges 6:13 (KJV) "And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites."

Can you close your eyes, raise your right hand, and not let anybody's voice be louder than yours? This is a strategic prayer.

===> Powers of my father's house, handing me over to the enemy, die! in the name of Jesus.

They were handed over to the enemies, and the enemies were punishing them. Gideon was a mighty man, according to the records of heaven. We did not know what the problem was, until the angel instructed him on what to go and do so that he could repossess his destiny.

Judges 6:25 (KJV) "And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:"

Judges 6:26 (KJV) "And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down."

We now began to see that what demoted Gideon from being a mighty man of valour to somebody who became a beggar was the altar of his father's house. Let us be honest with ourselves. Our ancestors did not serve the living God. Most of them practically served the devil. So there is practically no family where, in their history, there was no wicked altar. 

What Are Altars? 

- Indispensable places of worship

- Places where sacrifices are brought into contact with what is worshipped

- an institution started by God but now polluted by the enemy. 

- they bring a covering over the land. 

- they determine the kind of spirits that control the land and, invariably, the people.

- A place of sacrifice, dedication, covenant-making, and communion with spirits. That is why they can be positive or negative.

- A place of slaughter for something that is worshipped. 

- A place of spiritual exchange.

- A spiritual dining table where spirits are offered food. 

- A place of spiritual traffic, whether good or bad. 

Most of the houses built many years ago were built on altars. Practically all the market places we have were built on altars. If the wicked altars of the father's house of Gideon had to be cut down before he could access his destiny, you and I may not be able to do that physically again, but we can spiritually cut down every idol and spiritually cut down every wicked altar.

Even as we are here now, back in the place where many people were born, the altar is still there, and they are offering sacrifices on that altar. And once an altar is established in a family, it brings a covering of darkness over the whole family. 

===> I am praying for somebody here today: every ancient altar, forgotten altars, hidden altars, buried altars, working against any family here, with a tenfold amen, let those altars catch fire! in the name of Jesus.

Altars are so important that many people built altars in the Bible:

- Noah built altars.

- Abraham built altars. 

- Isaac built altars. 

- Saul built altars.

- David built altars.

- Jeroboam built altars.

- Jacob built altars.

- Moses built altars.

- Balak built altars.

- Joshua built altars.

- Manoah Samson's father built altars.

- Samuel built altars.

- Ahab built altars.

- Elijah built altars.

- Urijah built altars.

- Manasseh built altars.

- Zerubbabel built altars.

When the worship of the idol Baal took over Israel, the first thing that the followers did was to pull down the altar of Jehovah. That is why when Elijah got to the celebrated contest at Mount Carmel, after the prophets of Baal had wasted their time, the Bible says that the first thing Elijah did was to build the altar of the Lord they had thrown down. He understood the power of that altar.

So negative altars are special thieves and robbers. A thief may come in several forms. A thief may take advantage of your absence. A thief may take advantage of your carelessness and then use the weapon of destruction against you. The altars are spiritual thieves stealing the stars of families. This is a very serious matter. They are thieves.

I remember that brother who started a poultry business. He did not know that on the land where he put the poultry, there used to be an altar. Nobody had dealt with that altar. They just put sand on it and buried it. And he never knew there was an altar there. The person who sold the land to him did not say there was an altar on it. He started a poultry business, and his chickens were dying like houseflies until prayer started, and we discovered that there was an altar on that land, and every year, they sacrificed to this altar one chicken.

So when this wicked altar and idol discovered that it had poultry on it, it began to take more than one chicken and began to finish the man's chickens. The terribleness of wicked altars cannot be quantified. They are very terrible, and many families that are in trouble today got to where they got to because somebody handed the family to an altar of darkness, and this altar is laying claim to the family, deciding that nobody must marry, do well, or even be rich.

Every altar has an agenda. They have supporting spirits. They have a file to know who and who not to attack. They have a domain. They have weapons. They have memories. You may forget, but they will not forget. They have a warehouse and an armoury. Please try and understand this very well tonight: Many of the problems in families and communities arose because of the ancient satanic altars raised by our forefathers. Negative altars raised by our forefathers are a serious hindrance to prayers and to people walking with God. We need to deal with these altars to fulfil our destinies.

If we do not deal with these altars:

- Servants will continue to ride on our horses.

- Marriages will be collapsing anyhow.

- Money willswallowed by the enemy.

- Powers of darkness will destroy more people. 

- Winners will become losers.

- So-called believers will be pushed here and there. 

- Ritual murders will be everywhere.

- Tribal wars will be everywhere because of these evil altars.

These wicked altars can become altars of affliction. They can become altars that establish a curse in a family and then enforce the curse. Many are battling with the ministry of wicked altars now, and they do not understand where the battle is coming from. It is so sad when you are somewhere trying to pray and somebody in the village mentions your name to an evil altar. So tonight, it is these altars we want to deal with, and we will continue it on the last day of this programme, which is next week.

It is important to pull them down. It is important to destroy them. Sometimes, after these altars have been destroyed, the whole family is set free. You may say "But I do not know about any altar in our family", Yes, you may not know about an altar erected 50, 60, or 70 years ago in your family. There are some people I seriously feel sorry for. Their parents went to evil altars to ask for them. So their parents took their children from wicked altars, and now there is a serious problem.

===> I am praying that somebody here today will speak the words of destruction to every wicked altar that is troubling their families, in the name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS.

1. Wicked altars of my father's house, you are liars, die! in the name of Jesus. 

2. Every cycle of hardship, in my family, break! in the name of Jesus. 

3. Ancestral vulture, feeding on the destiny of my family, your time is up, die! in the name of Jesus. 

4. Every yoke hanging on my family tree, break! in the name of Jesus. 

5. My family, hear the Word of the Lord: receive deliverance! in the name of Jesus. 

6. Every generational problem in my family, expire! in the name of Jesus. 

7. Evil dedication, speaking against my family line, break! in the name of Jesus. 

8. Where is the Lord God of Elijah? Arise, do a new thing in my family! in the name of Jesus. 

9. Great physician, Jesus Christ: heal my family! in the name of Jesus. 

10. Every gathering of ancient demons, against my family, scatter! in the name of Jesus. 

11. (Mention your family name.) hear the Word of the Lord: arise and shine! in the name of Jesus.
