Is God’s Promise Delayed?

THEME: IS THE PROMISE OF GOD DELAYED OR OUR NUMBERING IS FAULTY.

2 Peter 3:8 But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord, one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day.

Though in the account of men, there is a great deal of difference between a day and a year, and a vast deal more between one day and a thousand years, yet in

the account of God, who inhibits eternity, in which there is no succession, there is no difference, for all things past, present, and future, are ever before Him, and the delay of a thousand years can't be so much to Him as the deffering of anything for a day or an hour is to us.

This is the reason why the people who were in distress in Isaiah's time (Isaiah Chapter 40) were given hope in Christ who was to be revealed later after almost 600 years. Most died before Christ was revealed. Was this a false prophecy? NO because they died fleshly yet the message was given to their hearts. The heart referred to by the Bible is not the organ that pumps blood but refers to the Spirit person. This is the reason why Christ went to preach redemption to those in the graves (1 Peter 3:19)

The assurance is that, whatever God promised to do He will do. In Him there is no delay. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with us, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

The wicked may continue with their wickedness it does not not mean that God is approving but that they are just abusing the grace period given to them. God will not delay judgement, it is only delayed in our eyes and how we perceive time. God's promises to the righteous and the wicked may delay but will eventually come to pass.
