A Harare man reportedly lost USD$100,000 to a group of fraudsters posing as magicians.
James Munetsi, a 57-year-old acquaintance, claimed to have connections with magical money multipliers from Kenya.
The victim was convinced by a trick where USD$10 supposedly transformed into USD$30. Subsequently, the scammers persuaded the victim to contribute more funds for multiplication.
Falling for the scam, the victim handed over USD$100,000, only to discover that the alleged magicians disappeared, leaving behind only papers in a bag, claiming to be the multiplied cash.
The accused is now facing fraud charges and has been remanded in custody pending a bail application next week.
