Education and Health secretaries from churches affiliated to the Zimbabwe Council of Churches(ZCC) recently converged at Kentucky Hotel in Harare and conducted separate workshops to reflect on the church's contributions to the attainment of quality, equitable and sustainable health and education services in Zimbabwe.
Participants also deliberated on how the different churches can foster collaborative synergies between the many church owned health and education institutions and leverage partnerships towards addressing gaps.
The ZCC General Secretary Rev Wilfred Dimingu implored participants to renew efforts towards ensuring that the church regains its position as a formidable contributor to societal transformation through education.
The workshop also discussed areas for improvement on existing frameworks for collaboration and coordination among church run institutions. ZCC is an umbrella body for 31 protestant churches.
In Zimbabwe, the church has a long history and enduring legacy of shaping the education and health landscape especially through its schools and health facilities that are providing services in all corners of the country including hard to reach areas
