The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) recently delivered essential WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) Non-Food Items (NFIs) to Hamudikuwanda village, Ward 30, in Mutasa District, located in the Honde Valley. This aid initiative was part of a broader recovery assistance program following the devastating hailstorm that struck the region in March 2024, causing extensive damage to homes and crops.
The distribution of items, which included water buckets, bar soaps, plates, and cups, benefited a total of 80 households. The initiative was overseen by ZCC Supervisory Council Bishop Marimbita and Amai Marimbita, alongside Ms. Maria T. Dendere, the Humanitarian Services and Diakonia Director, and representatives from the District Development Coordinator's office.
This relief effort aims to enhance hygiene practices within the community, thereby reducing the risk of waterborne diseases and contributing to the overall recovery and well-being of the affected families. The Zimbabwe Council of Churches, supported by The United Church of Canada, continues its commitment to providing essential aid and fostering community resilience in the wake of natural disasters.
