The Zimbabwe Council of Churches recently completed participant registrations, household verifications and baseline survey in Gwanda district under the Drought Rapid Response Program. The ACT Alliance funded project aims at improving access to food, Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) services to 700 individuals and provide Psychosocial Support to promote their overall mental wellbeing.
With the effects of climate change negatively trickling down to the welfare of communities, it is important to provide psychosocial support to significantly enhance the recovery process, strengthen social networks and community bonds, contributing to collective recovery for individuals and communities during this prevailing El-Nino induced drought. In addition, access to SGBV services will help foster safer, healthier and more equitable society and reduce prevalence of violence over time.
