Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.
*Keep away from idols*
Idols refers to anything which takes the place of God in our lives. It occupies our hearts and it occupies our minds to an extent that we can be said we worship that thing. But we must never forget that our God is a jealous God. He does not share his glory with anyone or anything.
A lot of the things that would take the place of God in our lives like gambling or drugs or pornography are very attractive and even addictive. The best defense as scripture teaches us today is total avoidance. Yes - keep away from anything and everything that would take the place of God in your life.
*Prayer*
Lord Heavenly Father, we need you in our hearts.. We need you to take first place in our lives in Jesus' name. Amen
