Following the recently launched Strengthening Drought Response and Recovery project in Bulilima District, in Matabeleland South Province, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches with support from Christian Aid and The Scottish Government 's Humanitarian Emergency Fund (HEF), kickstarted the registration of food aid beneficiaries and assesment of boreholes for rehabilitation in 7 wards. Currently, the activities have been completed in 4 wards namely Ndolwane (ward 13), Madlambudzi (ward 11), Bambadzi (ward 10), Makhuleka (ward 9) and the journey continues for the remaining 3 wards. This project will see a total of 2248 beneficiaries receiving food assistance and the rehabilitation of 21 boreholes.
The program will help to reduce hunger, and improve access to water for multipurpose use, allowing community members build resilience towards addressing the effects of the El-Nino induced drought.
The activities were carried out concurrently with the Rapid Gender Analysis, Baseline survey and Market assessments.
