Source : Zimbabwe Council of Churches

The Zimbabwe Council of Churches completed the registrations of project participants in Gutu ward 15 & 16 and Bikita ward 18 &31 for the Climate Smart Agriculture component under the Scaling Up Resilience Program funded by the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and The United Church of Canada. The program will be implemented for 3 years until August 2027.

The Climate Smart Agriculture component characterized by the lead farmer approach and farmer field school will see a total of 1300 farmers receiving Climate Smart Agriculture training and inputs for the 2024/2025 agriculture season. The practices in this type of agriculture not only improve soil health and water management but also increase crop yields and reduce vulnerability to droughts and erratic rainfall. Therefore, these will improve agriculture productivity and diversified livelihoods opportunities for women and men.

Present during the registrations were local leadership and Government stakeholders from the District Development Coordinator’s office and department of Agriculture Rural Development and Advisory Service (ARDAS).
