Corps Sergeant Major Cain Banga has retired after 28 years of dedicated service to the Salvation Army.
A ceremony was held at Dzivarasekwa Citadel on November 3, where relatives, soldiers, and friends gathered to honor his remarkable career.
Mr. Banga's journey with the Salvation Army began in 1978 when he was enrolled as a soldier.
He went on to serve in various roles, including Corps Secretary at Rugare Corps in 1995 and Welcome Sergeant at Dzivarasekwa Citadel in 1999.
His leadership skills and dedication earned him the position of Corps Sergeant Major, which he held until his retirement.
Speakers at the ceremony praised Mr. Banga's exceptional leadership, professionalism, and dedication.
Family representative Mr. M. Matsvetu expressed pride in Mr. Banga's accomplishments, saying, "We thank God for Mr. Banga's life. We applaud Cain for a job well done." HLS (R) Mrs. Jani commended Mr. Banga's resolute and firm leadership, encouraging future leaders to follow his example.
Former Corps Officer Major Vitalis Chimukwanda highlighted Mr. Banga's attributes: humility, wisdom, hard work, and a strong faith.
Mr. P. Mavhemwa, representing the Harare West Division Sergeant Majors, noted that Mr. Banga's guidance will be greatly missed.
DC Major Jacob Nyemba concluded the ceremony by drawing parallels between Mr. Banga's leadership and that of biblical figures Noah and Solomon.
