Empowering Women and Fighting Malnutrition in Gwanda Ward 13
The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) through the Felm funded Supplementary Feeding Program distributed indigenous chickens to 20 vulnerable women in Gwanda Ward 13. This initiative, is a vital step toward combating malnutrition and improving food security in the district.
Notably, indigenous chickens provide a sustainable source of nutrition for vulnerable groups, including children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. Beyond nutrition, this project empowers women economically, enabling them to start small-scale poultry farming to generate additional household income. During the distribution, the ZCC team, supported by the AGRITEX Extension Officer, trained beneficiaries on poultry care and management to maximize long-term benefits. Grateful recipients shared their excitement, recognizing the positive impact this initiative will have on their families' well-being.
Together, we’re fostering resilience, empowering communities, and promoting sustainable farming practices.
