Zimbabwe Council of Churches, ACT Alliance Distribute Food Aid to Vulnerable Households

In response to severe food insecurity during the lean season, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC), with support from ACT Alliance through the El Niño Drought Rapid Response Project, recently distributed vital food aid to vulnerable households in Gwanda Ward 13. A total of 700 individuals from 137 households received food baskets, each containing 10 kg of mealie meal, 2 kg of beans, and 750 ml of cooking oil.

The distribution, which is also taking place in Chimanimani district, was observed by stakeholders from the Government of Zimbabwe.

In addition to the food assistance, participants were encouraged to adopt climate-smart farming practices aimed at building resilience to future shocks. The ZCC and its partners are committed to promoting long-term food security in Gwanda, Chimanimani, and beyond by fostering sustainable agriculture and self-sufficiency.
