Yesterday, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) conducted food distributions in Ward 7 Runyararo settlement in Chimanimani district as part the El Nino Drought Rapid Response Project.
The project is being implemented with funding and technical support from ACT Alliance. A total of 179 households(700 individuals) were reached with a food basket consisting of 10kg of mealie meal, 2kg of beans, and 750ml of cooking oil per each individual. Inclusion issues such as Gender and Disability were given consideration. Food commodities for households with PWDs (Persons with Disabilities) who were not represented to attend were delivered directly to their homes.
ZCC Humanitarian Services and Diakonia Director Ms. Maria T. Dendere and Finance Director Mr.Chakuzira and Reverend Takawira from the Anglican Church and representatives from government line ministries and departments witnessed the distributions.
ZCC is among the ACT Alliance members implementing the #RapidResponseProject in Zimbabwe to alleviate household food insecurity resulting from the ElNino induced drought.
