In light of the escalating conflict in Syria, Tearfund’s Country Director there, Jaime Abraham, spoke about the way it is impacting humanitarian work:
'The situation is heartbreaking, some of the communities Tearfund works with were starting to get back on their feet after a decade of conflict, economic crisis and the earthquake, but once again they’re facing trauma and are afraid for their future.
Some aid operations in Aleppo and the surrounding areas have been suspended until safe transportation and supply routes can be agreed. Tearfund’s partners are managing to keep some vital distribution programmes going, reaching about 1,000 families, but we urgently need more funds and supplies.
Please pray for swift resolution, peace and stability. Pray that funding and aid get through, for humanitarians and civilians to be kept safe and for our church partners as they try to help and reassure their communities.'
