Zimbabwe Council of Churches Empowers Women With Hygiene Initiave

By Staff Writer

In a bid to promote hygiene and empowerment among women and girls in Gwanda district, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) distributed essential hygiene kits to 250 beneficiaries in ward 13. This initiative was made possible through the El NiƱo Rapid Response Program, funded by Act Alliance and Act Church of Sweden.

The hygiene kits, designed to cater to the needs of women aged 12 to 49, included washable sanitary pads, soap bars, buckets, and undergarments. In addition to the kits, the Ministry of Health and Child Care provided comprehensive training on hygiene practices, focusing on the proper care of sanitary pads and sexual and reproductive health.

This intervention not only addressed the immediate hygiene needs of the beneficiaries but also empowered them with knowledge and skills necessary for building healthier, more resilient communities. The Zimbabwe Council of Churches extends its gratitude to all stakeholders and participants who contributed to the success of this initiative.

The project reinforces the importance of hygiene and empowerment, particularly among women and girls in vulnerable communities. By providing essential hygiene support and promoting knowledge on sexual and reproductive health, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches is helping to create a more equitable and resilient society.
