The Zimbabwe Young Christian Students (ZYCS) has officially introduced its 2025/26 National Team, comprising a Chaplain, Secretariat, and Executive. The new leadership has expressed its commitment to serving and leading with zeal.
According to the ZYCS statement, this year's theme, "Pilgrims of Hope," will guide the organization's efforts to expand its reach to marginalized communities and promote Catholic social teachings. The statement emphasized the importance of making "an option for the poor" and increasing student engagement in social development.
"We wish to advance our reach to the poor and spread Catholic social teachings, especially by making an option for the poor," the statement read. "We aim to increase student engagement in social development by bringing social justice to the poor, both economically and socially, so that all can enjoy God's kingdom on earth."
The ZYCS emphasized its dedication to promoting social justice for all, citing its guiding principles: "See, Judge, Act, Reflect." The organization also acknowledged its affiliation with the Jesuit Youth Office of Southern Africa and the Jesuit Youth Office.
As the ZYCS embarks on its new journey with the 2025/26 National Team, it remains committed to its mission of fostering a community of young Christians who are dedicated to social justice and the values of the Gospel.
