Zimbabwe Council of Churches Boosts Citizen Participation in Governance

The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) has joined forces with Christian Aid to enhance the capacity of Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to drive citizen participation in governance processes. This initiative is part of the ICARES project, which complements government efforts to implement national development strategies like NDS1 ¹.

Recently, 26 participants, including local leaders, underwent capacity-building training to enhance citizens' participation in governance and decision-making processes. The training featured valuable insights on good governance from Dr. Vincent Chakunda of the Midlands State University.

The ZCC's efforts aim to promote civic engagement, conversations of hope, and advocacy for Africa. The organization is working closely with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Information, Publicity & Broadcasting Services, Norwegian Church Aid Southern Africa, and the EU Delegation to Zimbabwe.

By empowering FBOs and CBOs, the ZCC seeks to create a more inclusive and participatory governance process, ultimately contributing to the successful implementation of national development strategies. This initiative demonstrates the ZCC's commitment to promoting good governance, civic engagement, and community development in Zimbabwe.
