A deadly earthquake measuring 7.7 struck central Myanmar on 28 March, destroying lives across the region.
Tremors have reached as far as Thailand, China, India and Bangladesh. More than 2,000 people have been killed and 3,900 injured. Many more are still buried in the rubble, and these numbers are expected to rise.
Those who survived the terrifying earthquake now face a desperate humanitarian crisis. People are in urgent need of medical care, shelter, food and water, and access to safe sanitation and hygiene.
Right now, we’re actively supporting our local partners in Myanmar to assess the extent of the damage and risk to communities.
Tearfund’s partners are:
- providing immediate cash assistance so people can buy food and other essentials.
- carrying out search and rescue efforts to find people trapped in the rubble.
Jesus calls us to stand alongside those in greatest need. Make a life-saving donation today: https://brnw.ch/21wRH8i
